Department of Commerce is Now 50 years Young!
As we are celebrating the Platinum Jubilee, we remember that the history of A.S. College Khanna sets the stage, the benchmark and the legacy for the college to sail steadfastly & unwavering towards its journey of being an institution of eminence. Under its aegis, Department of Commerce has also completed 50 years of existence, proving its excellence in the field of Commerce and Management.
The Department of Commerce is the largest department in the college. It began its journey in 1971, with only 35 students housed in a 4 rooms- single storey building. In the mid nineties, it further expanded its wings to include one more unit of BCom and BCom (Hons) as part of its course curriculum. Keeping pace with the changing era of business world it added self financing programme by offering Add-On courses in CBA, FTPP & ABS. At the advent of 21st century, it had been vertically elevated to a Post Graduate Department by offering the PG programme in Commerce (MCom). Additionally in 2001, blessing of Maharaj Kedar Puri ji (Samadhi Wale) glorified the Commerce block with magnificent double storey building . In the session 2014-15, we have been granted Rs 1.46 crores by UGC for introducing two skill based vocational degree programmes in the college. Under this UGC scheme, department further expanded horizontally, with the induction of Innovative and Skill based course: BVoc ( Banking, Insurance &Retailing).
Ever since its inception the department has maintained an exacted academic profile which is clearly reflected in the outstanding achievements of the students. More than 1000 alumni who completed their CA/CS/ICWA/MBA made us proud.
Presently there are more than 500 students in the department, meticulously moulded by 12 dedicated teachers including six Doctorate qualified. The department completely transformed itself by upgrading its classrooms to modern standards of pedagogy by incorporating projectors, Smart rooms, WiFi and one Computer lab for its exclusive use. The department is in a journey which is still unfinished and the path ahead is exhilarating & it yearns to achieve more by keeping up with the vision of the college. With the blessings of almighty, we will continue to envisage and implement various programmes for students to enhance the employability and strengthen the personality of the Graduate and the Post Graduate students. Even for this time to time our department organises various seminars and extension lectures.

Activities of P G Department of Commerce
(1)The department organised an online Exhibition cum webinar on the theme “Advertisement Campaign: Online is Lifeline of Education amid Covid-19 & its challenges” on 19th May 2021.
(2) The department organised an Online Interface with the 12th standard students regarding “Career Options & Admissions Procedure” on 30th June & 6th July 2021.
(3) The department organised an Online Interface with B.Com Final Year students regarding “Career Options & Admissions Procedure” on 10th August 2021
(4) The department organised an Online Webinar on the theme of “Fitness Mantra for Holistic Health” on 30th August 2021.
(5) The department organized One day Extension Lecture on the topic “Afghanistan Crisis” on 4th September 2021 .
(6) The department signed up MOU with Bajaj Finserv Ltd. and Launched a Certified Programme in Banking, Finance & Insurance on 6th September 2021.
(7) The department provided Guidance for UGC NET exam to M.Com students starting from September 2nd Week on weekly basis
(8) The department organized an Online webinar on the topic “Financial Awareness & Consumer training (FACT)” Programme on 13th October 2021.
(9) The department organized an Inter Class Quiz Competition on “Goods & Service Tax” for B.Com 2nd Year Students on 17th October 2021.
(10) The department organized an Awareness Campaign on the theme of “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” on 31st October 2021.
(11) The department organized an online Webinar on the topic of “Financial Literary” on 24th November 2021
(12) The department organized workshop cum seminar on the topic “Banking Insurance & Finance” with the collaboration of Finserv Ltd. on 5thApril 2022. On this occasion the certificates were given to the students on the successful completion of course. (13) The department organized an Exhibition on the topic Advertising Campaign on international world health day on 9th April 2022.
(14) One day educational trip was organized by the department of Commerce for the student of M.com I, II & B.com III on 24th April 2022. The student visited kasauli & trip was thrilling experience for the students
(15) Management, Principal, Faculty and students of department of Commerce jointly planted a Gulmohar tree in the memory of commerce student Late Robinveer singh, who died in an accident on 31st May 2022
