About the Library

The Library is central and common to all the academic activities of the College. It provides a place to study, material for study and services to assist study.The college library has at present a good collection of more than 50,000 books which include textbooks, reference books, general books and non-book materials.The Library collection is well classified, catalogued in a Systematic way. The College Library is enriched with 30 Journals, 20 magazines and 12 Daily Newspapers. SOUL2.0 an integrated library software package is installed for library automation.

Library Timings

Monday to Saturday:  8:45 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Library has been divided into different sections for its smooth functioning:

1. Circulation Section
This section has general and text books of all subjects. Library has open access system. All the books have been arranged from 001 to 999 according to Dewey Decimal Classification System.

2. Reference Section
This section has important reference books on all subjects and dictionaries, encyclopedia, thesaurus, travel guides, competitive books, maps, gazetteers, collected works  and Year Books.

3. Periodical Section
We subscribe more than 50 magazines/periodicals and 12 daily newspapers in    Hindi,English and Punjabi language received in the reading room of the library.

4. Reading Room
The Reading Room has a capacity to accommodate 150 students at a time.

 

Services

Issue and Return
This section is the hub of library activities where lending out of books to readers is facilitated. The circulation of books for home use is a major public service provided by the library. All the members of the library visit this section for getting books on loan for home use.

Book bank facility
Library provides book bank facility to needy and deserving students for the whole session. The issued Text books have to be returned after annual examination.

Reference Services
The function of libraries is three fold. Libraries acquire information, organize that information in a way it can be retrieved and disseminate the information the library has acquired. Reference service fulfils this last function. Library provides assistance in the use of library including location of material, use of computers to access information and the use of basic reference sources. Providing brief, factual answer to questions such as statistics, address etc. that can be quickly located. Assistance in identifying library material needed to answer a question.

 Internet Facility
U.G.C. NETWORK Resource Centre establishedin the Library.Eight Computer Terminals have been placed for users for accessing Internet. However, only educational sites are allowed for surfing. 

Reprography Services
The reprographic facilities are available in Library for the students and faculty members, at a very nominal rate.

Linkage with other Libraries
Though, we are having a best-resourced library, but we cannot offer everything that every possible user may wish to access at one time. For the purpose of fulfilling the requirements of our reader we have provide membership of Panjab University Extension Library, Ludhiana and A. C. Joshi Library, Panjab University, Chandigarh.

E- Resources

To provide access to e-resources to students and faculty members of college, library also subscribedN-List Programme of INFLIBNET, Gandhinagar. Under this more than 6000+e-journals and 97300+books are available to the users of library.
